Andrea Bumpers Baldwin was a native of the Winn Community, Jackson. She was born on September 8, 1915 and departed this life on March 16, 2012.
At an early age, she was baptized and became a member of Berry's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church. She will be greatly missed for service in the offices of Deaconess Board Member, Class Leader, Lay Council Member, Pastor's Aide Board Member, Women Home and Oversees Missionary Society Member, Hospitality Service Member, Chair of Culinary Committee, active Sunday School Member and numerous other positions. Also, she was a 55 year member of Amies Pride Chapter #590 of the Eastern Star. She was faithful until her health failed.
She attended school in the Clarke County Alabama School System. During her many years of employment, she held a number of different jobs at businesses in the surrounding communities, including Jackson Medical Center, Downtown Inn, Jackson Healthcare Facility and Piggly Wiggly, Inc., Grove Hill, where she retired from the Deli Department.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James and Mary Bumpers; her husband: Clinton "Buddy" Baldwin; her siblings: Felix Bumpers, James Bumpers, Jr., Love Joy Bumpers, Betsey Chapman, Elester Preyear, Clintone Robinson, and Hattie Wright; children: L.V. (Carolyn) Baldwin, Oscar L. Baldwin, and Ottie M. Williams; grandchildren: Nicole Jenkins and Charles Kiel.
She was united in holy matrimony to the late Clinton "Buddy" Baldwin and six children were born to this union: L.V., Dorothy, Janette, Ottie Mae, Oscar Lee, and Mary. Three children to celebrate her life: Dorothy (Daniel) Williams, Jackson; Janette (Ray) Lockett, Hoffman Estates, IL; and Mary Beckham, Alpharetta, GA; one son-in-law: Isaac Othello Williams, Jackson; a sister in-law: Bertha Moore, Georgiana; 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and six great, great grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held Wednesday, March 21, 11 a.m. from the Berry's Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church of Winn, Rev. Edward Seabron, Sr., pastor and eulogist. Burial was in the church cemetery.
