Dale L. Carruthers, age 44, of Mattoon, Ill., passed away at 2:20 a.m. Monday, April 20, 2009, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.

The funeral service in his honor will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Ave., Mattoon, IL 61938, with Rev. Mike Snow and Rev. Clyde Matsen officiating. Interment will be in Cochran's Grove Cemetery, south east of Windsor. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

Mr. Carruthers was born in Mattoon, Ill., on Nov. 25, 1964, the son of Larry L. and Mary E. (Hiatt) Carruthers. Both parents survive.

Other survivors include his wife, Melissa; and their children, Kaylee and McKinlee Carruthers. He was preceded in death by a brother, David Carruthers. He leaves one niece and two nephews.

Mr. Carruthers was a former employee of C.R. Neff Plumbing and Heating. He attended the First Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting and riding motorcycles.
