Born August 19, 1925, at Man, he was a son of the late Don and Ida Perry Brown Sr. Also preceding him in death was his wife of 51 years, Vonnie E. Brown; four brothers, Ernest Brown, Dennis Brown, Grover Brown and Herbert Brown, and two sisters, Margaret Haughton and Frances McCane.
Junior was a decorated World War II Veteran, who served during the European Theatre at D Day and at the Battle of the Bulge. He was a disabled coal miner who previously worked for Powellton Coal Company. Cockeye was an avid Cincinnati Reds Fan and coached Little League Babe Ruth Baseball and Girl's Softball. He was a member of the Accoville United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two sons, Dennis Brown of Man and Josh Brown of Greenville; one daughter, Shannon Brown of Varney; two sisters-in-law, Faye Powers of Greenville and Irene Brown of Paint Creek; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Service will commence at 1 p.m. Monday, April 22, at Krantz McNeely Funeral Home with Rev. Kit Meade, Rev. Richard Chambers, and Rev. Norman Harvey officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery at Pecks Mill with Military Graveside Rites conducted by VFW Post 6153 and American Legion Post 103 of Chapmanville, and the DAV Post 39 of Harts.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
