Roy E. Cox was born to William S. Cox and Emma C. Bayless Cox in Knoxville Tenn. on Oct. 21th, 1910.
He was a self employed truck driver in Knoxville.
Roy was beaten to death after an automobile accident on Skyline Drive on July 8th, 1943.
He was preceeded in death by his father and mother; a sister Mary Kate Cox Wolfenbarger.
He is survived by his wife Alice and a son Roy E. Cox Jr.; two sisters Ollie Beaver and Helen Kimbrough. Two brothers Charles Plummer Cox and Hugh Cox.
McCarthy Funeral Home are handeling arrangements.
Burial will be in the Roseberry Cemetery.
Three men were charged with his murder.
The driver of the other vehicle,Lloyd Loughery.
Lougherys' brother-in-law Raymond Holbert and Holberts' brother Y.J.Holbert, a soldier home on furlough from the army.
Raymond Holbert was the actual murderer according to the statement he made to police investigating the accident.
