CLEVELAND

LAST RITES HELD FOR E. G. ADSIT

Cleveland, Feb. 16 Funeral services for Ervin G. Adsit, 75, a former Cleveland business man, were conducted in Fayetteville Saturday by the Rev. John E. Miles, pastor of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Syracuse.

Mr. Adsit was born in Onondaga County, April 15, 1866, and married Harriett Smith of Fayetteville, June 20, 1889. The couple resided in Syracuse for many years and came to this village in 1933, where he operated the store now owned by H. L. Shaw. While a resident here he served a term as village treasurer and also as a justice of the peace of the town of Constantia. In July, 1939, he disposed of his property interests in Cleveland and moved to Maple View, where he operated a gas station. About a month ago Mr.and Mrs. Adsit entered the Masonic Home in Utica.

Oh the afternoon of Jan. 26, Mr.Adsit with his sister-in-law, Miss Sadie Smith, 61, of Fayetteville while en route to Syracuse from closing the Maple View home, lost control of his car near Brewerton and Miss Smith was fatally injured when the car crashed into a pole and died a half hour later at Crouse-Irving Hospital, Syracuse.

Mr. Adsit, who also suffered severe injuries in the accident, continued as a patient at Crouse-Irving until last Tuesday when he returned to the Masonic Home where he passed away on Thursday morning. Beside his wife, he is survived by a brother, Leslie Adsit, Syracuse.
