Daughter of J.W and Mary Elizabeth (Arline) Jackson.
Mrs. J H Barwick Died Today -Mrs. J H Barwick died this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. T M Chastain on Park Front after an illness of two weeks. She was 81 years of age at the time of death and up until two weeks ago had been in good health. She came here from her home in Pine Park for a short visit with her daughter and was stricken while while here. Little hope was held for her recovery for the past few days, but in spite of this the death of this prominent and beloved woman comes as a shock to her hundreds of friends admirers and relatives within the county.
Mrs Barwick was born in Mitchell County, Sept. 5, 1849 the daughter of Rev. J W Jackson a Methodist minister who was in charge of the church in this city in 1855 and for several years thereafter. He was one of the best known ministers in the state at the time and was known as a pioneer in his work.
Mrs. Barwick is survived by nine children:
CS Barwick of Thomasville, JW Barwick of Pine Park, L.L. Barwick of Brownsville, TX., H.B. Barwick of Vero Beach, FL, L Barwick of Melbourne, FL. Mrs T.M. Chastain of Thomasville, Mrs. DA McCrancy of Pine Park, and Mrs. JM Golden of Thomasville. Rev. C A Jackson of the First St Methodist Church in Macon is a brother, Mrs. E A Saunders of Baxley and Mrs. JD Stringer of Haines City, FL are sisters.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at the Barnett's Baptist Church at 3 o'clock. Rev. Will Davis of Meigs will officiate and he will be assisted by Rev. T.F. Callaway of this city, Rev. Gorham Garrison of Ochlocknee.Pall bearers are all grandsons of the deceased: R.L. Chastian, J.S. Chastain, Oscar Chastian, E.W. Barwick, J.H. Barwick, H Barwick, Alton Barwick and Edward Moore.
Although Mrs. Barwick had lived in Pine Park in the latter years of her life she was known here and loved by all who knew her. In her death the entire county will suffer a real loss and to her loved ones the loss will be irreparable.
