Born to Joshua Moody and Amy Kendall Bowley in Hartland, Maine abt 1839, the 4th of 5 children. "Jennie", as she was called, was the younger sister of Sewell Prescott Moody, the founder of Moodyville (North Vancouver).

"No death has occurred in Victoria for a long time that has created so deep and painful a feeling of regret as that of Mrs. Dalby. The flag on the city hall was displayed at half-mast during the day as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased". (The Daily Colonist - March 10, 1886.)
