Richard D. Aken, 60, of Sycamore, Illinois died Thursday, March 29, 2001 at his home. He was born in Mendota, Illinois on June 27, 1940 the son of Carroll and Florence (Worsley) Aken. He married Della Holbrook on November 6, 1965 in Elgin. He was a graduate of Genoa-Kingston High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962. He worked for Hyatt Brothers and also for Kallal's Sheet Metal Co. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Association Local #219, a member of the Sycamore VFW, and a former member of the Eagles Club in DeKalb. He enjoyed aviation air shows, golfing and was a history buff.

He is survived by his wife, Della Aken of Sycamore; two sons, Shawn Aken of Sycamore, Brad Aken, of Bloomington; his mother, Florence Akin of Genoa; two sisters, Carolyn (Bob) Arneson, of Normal, Deb (Greg) Ammann of Myrtle Creek, Oregon; a brother, Doug (Glenda) Aken of Oregon, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Carroll Aken in 1994.

A funeral service will be on Monday, April 2nd at 1:30 p.m. at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178 with The Reverend Stephen Persson, officiating.
