Robert George Downing, 53 of Colmesneil, passed away Monday, June 16, 2008, at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 19th at 11:00am at the Bethany Baptist Church with burial in Bethany Cemetery near Colmesneil under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville. Officiating will be Brother J.C. Smith. Serving as pallbearers will be his cousins and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18th from 5:00 - 8:00pm at the funeral home.
Robert was born March 15, 1955, to George & Floy Sturrock Downing in Woodville, Texas. He was a lifelong resident of Tyler County and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Floy Downing in 2004.
He is survived by his father, George Downing of Colmesneil; brothers & sister-in-law, Jerry Downing of Colmesneil and James Milton & Ann Downing of Florence, South Carolina; sister & brother-in-law, Glenda & John Jordan of Singer, Louisiana; aunts & uncles, Catherine & R.A. Jernigan of Woodville, Inez Sturrock of Tennessee, J.M. Downing, Sr. of Beaumont, and Allen & Rachel Sturrock of Woodville.
