J. Harvey Brawley, 64, died at 5:15 yesterday after suffering a heart attack as he trimmed tree branches in the back yard of his home at 1010 Cherry.
Though Mr. Brawley was about 30 feet from the ground when he suffered the attack, his body did not fall and firemen were needed to bring him down. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Springfield Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Brawley, who moved to Springfield from a farm near Miami, Okla in 1937 is survived by his wife, Tersie; two sons Clifford of Route 3 and Cleo of Route 6, a brother, one sister and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Alma Lohmeyer-Jewell E. Windel Chapel with the Rev. John Verte officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Dennis Smith, Leland Moore, Fred Love, Guy Hall, Harold Roper and O.L. Slipher. Honorary pallbearers will include Bert Elan, Ed Brooks, and Paul Carmack.
