Franklin Junior Carter, 59, of Kearneysville died Monday, April 20, 2009, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg.
Born Oct. 26, 1949, in Jefferson County he was the son of Celena I. (Roper) Carter of Kearneysville and the late Benjamin Carter.
Mr. Carter retired after 12 years with Larry Crouse Furniture Manufacturing as a furniture maker.
He was of Baptist faith and a graduate of Shepherdstown High School, Class of 1968.
Mr. Carter served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a very devoted companion, Harla "GiGi" Berry; one daughter, Jamie Carter of Ranson; two sons, Kent Carter of Charles Town and Scott Bradford Doleman of Inwood; five grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Adams and husband, John of Martinsburg; one brother, Reginald Roper and wife, Guinevere of Charles Town; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one sister, Doris Diggs.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 24, 2009 at Word of Faith Tabernacle, Border Road, Kearneysville with the Rev. Clyde Eggleton. Interment will be in St. Paul's Baptist Church Cemetery, Kearneysville.
