Audrey's mother used to tell Audrey that she named her Audrey Beatrice Cosby so her initials would be ABC. Audrey resembled her mother most and also the Morgan side of the family. Her favorite toy growing up were paper dolls which she often called 'Peggy". She named one of her daughters "Peggy". Her favorite music was 'jitterbug'.
Audrey and Bill met in 1942 at the Soda Shop in Washington, IN. Bill had always had a draw to serve in the military and defend his country. During World War II, it was a very difficult time for Audrey when Bill's family was notified he was "missing-in-action" and then later discovered to be a Prisoner of War. He was the head of the Tank division in the U.S. army under General Patton and was captured by the Germans in Tunisia in February 15, 1943. He was taken to a prison camp in Stalag III-B, in Germany in Feb. 1944. He was able to write home to Audrey.
