Darrel "Bud" Beller, 74, died Nov. 29 at Providence Hospital of natural causes. A funeral was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, downtown, with the Rev. Karen Sonray of Central Lutheran Church officiating.

Mr. Beller was born Aug. 26, 1920, in Whitefish, Mont., to Pearl and Anna Beller. From 1937 to 1941, he worked for the Great Northern Railroad in Montana. From 1941 to 1945, he served in the U.S. Air Force and in the Aleutian Campaign during World World II. He moved to Anchorage in 1948, and on Dec. 6 of that year, started working for Pacific Northern Airlines, where he continued until retiring in 1984. In the mid-1960s, Pacific Northern Airlines merged and became Western Airlines. Mr. Beller received the Federal Aviation Administration's Master Mechanic Award. He enjoyed flying, fishing, working on his son, Darrel's, Cessna, meeting friends for coffee, and socializing at Lake Hood. His family said: "Bud was a generous, loving, caring man who would go out of his way to help family and friends. They will always remember him as the best dad and husband ever. His memory will continue to live on in their hearts."

Mr. Beller is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marydell, sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Donna, Darrel and Linda, daughter, Linda, all of Anchorage; brothers, Merle "Ole" of Salem, Ore., and Jack of Whitefish, Mont. He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna, and brother, Bill. The family suggests that memorial donations in his name be sent to the charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements were handled by Evergreen Memorial Chapel.
