Elbert G. Owens
CARTHAGE, Mo. -- Elbert G. (Red) Owens, 89 years old, Carthage route 4, died at 7:45 o'clock Sunday morning at Freeman hospital where he had been a patient for two weeks.
Born February 9, 1879, at Batesville, Ark., Mr. Owens had lived here most of his life. He retired in 1945 from the Atlas Powder Company. He was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lucy Owens; two sons, Burl Owens, Carthage route 4, and Bassel Owens, Duncanville, Tex.; five daughters Mrs. Kirk Wimbish, Mrs. Pauline Goodrich and Mrs. Amanda Smith, all of Carthage route 4, Mrs. Hazel Stowe, Strafford, and Mrs. Maxine Brown, Bessemer, Ala.; a brother, Bev Owens, Newark, Ark.; 25 grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Mason chapel. The Rev. Frank Jackson and the Rev. Ralph McDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Atlas cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Elbert would meet Loucinda in Paroquet,just outside of Newark, and close to Elmo.Elbert was working the cotton fields there with William and Buck Hines.

Elbert and Loucinda would leave AR sometime during 1915-1916 and move to Missouri.
Kirk(Kay)was the last child born in AR end of 1914: Sept. 28, 1914.
Pauline was the first child born in MO first part of 1917: Jan. 20, 1917.

Elbert did not return to Arkansas for several years.When they did return on a visit, Elbert told that there was a blind sister (Jenny?) that as they walked up...without anyone telling her who they were....started crying and said "Red...you've come home"......
