After moving to Detroit as a young child, Ms. Garrett was educated in the Detroit Public Schools and graduated from Cass Technical High School. She became a registered nurse and worked at Harper Hospital for more than 35 years. She enjoyed her role as a caregiver.
She is survived by her sister, Arlean; brother, Bobby; six nephews and five nieces.
