Cullen Fisher Durbin was born Feb 25, 1888, in Harrison County, Kentucky, a son of Daniel Durbin (1862-1949) and Mary L. Fisher, both born in Kentucky. Cullen was the oldest child in a family of 6 known children. His brothers and sisters were: Bessie E. Durbin (1890-?), Anna Laura Durbin (1892-?), John Marabeau Durbin (1895-?), Daniel Rosco Durbin (1898-1982), and Mary Durbin (dates unknown), all born in Kentucky.
In 1908, Cullen married Daisy Lee Perrin, born in Kentucky (1889-1967). In 1910, Cullen's occupation is listed as telegraph operator and they are living in Cynthiana, Harrison County, Kentucky. Cullen remained working for the railroad telegraph even after 1920 when the family moved to Paris, Bourbon County.
Cullen and Daisy had three sons: James Howard Durbin (1909-1949), Cullen Fisher Durbin, Jr. (1910-1930), and Fithian Lee Durbin (1914-1995).
Cullen died Feb 20, 1968 in Fayette County, Kentucky. His wife died the previous year in 1967. Both are buried in Battle Grove Cemetery, Harrison County, Kentucky.
