Services for LaVern A. Bobby, 59, 72 Country Village, will be at 2 pm Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bowdle with the Rev. Eugene Roesler officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Cemetery in Hosmer.

Mr. Bobby died Wednesday, December 29, at Dakota Midland Hospital.

Visitation will be at the Miller-Huebl Funeral Home in Aberdeen until 9 pm. Thursday and at the Miller Funeral Home in Bowdle from 9 am to 3 pm Friday and 9 am to 11 am Sunday and again at the church Monday one hour prior to the service. The family is requested to meet at the church at 1:30 pm Monday.

Military graveside rites will be conducted by Andrew Schauer American Legion Post 259 of Roscoe.

LaVern A. Bobby was born May 19, 1923, at Sisseton. He moved with his family to the Beebe area.

He farmed with his parents until 1942. when he entered the U. S. Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He received his honorable discharge in 1946 and returned to the Ipswich area.

He married Helen C. Oberlander at Hosmer on June 2, 1946. The couple made their home and farmed in the Ipswich-Beebe area until 1955, when the family moved to Roscoe where they owned and operated Bobby's Place.

They moved to Aberdeen in 1963 where they owned and operated Lucky's Tavern until 1968. He worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and lived in several area towns and was working for the Burlington Northern Railroad at the time of his death.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the Andrew Schauer American Legion Post 259 of Roscoe, the V. F. W. Post 3179 of Faulkton and the Brotherhood of Maintenance Railway employees.

Survivors include his wife, five sons, Roger L. Bobby, Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich; Duane P. Bobby, Aberdeen; Albert R. Bobby, Hoffman Estates, Ill; William E. Bobby, Roscoe; and Dale R. Bobby, Sparta, Wis.; one daughter, Mrs. Jim (Shirley) Nissen, Aberdeen; his father, Emil Bobby Sr., Ipswich; three sisters, Mrs Melvin (Marie) Dockter, Zeeland, ND; and Margaret Burrer and Polly Hardt, both of Artas; three brothers, Jim Doud, Lead; Francis W. Bobby, Ipswich; and Emil Bobby, Jr., Pierre; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and two grandchildren.
