William Craig Daugherty, 72, of 1309 Eastwood Drive, Clarion, died Monday, July 16, 2007, in his home following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 30, 1934, in Fisher, he was the son of the late Craig and Pearl Hummel Daugherty.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving for the Commander, XXI U.S. Army Corps from 1957 to 1966. He was discharged with the rank of staff sergeant.

Mr. Daugherty worked at Owens-Brockway Glass Co., retiring in 1977 after 30 years of service. He most recently was employed at True Value Hardware in Clarion.

He was a member of Clarion Lodge No. 277. F. & A.M., and was a life member of the Scottish Rite Consistory in Coudersport.

Having a strong faith, Mr. Daugherty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Clarion.

Mr. Daugherty was a former member of the Clarion Lions Club.

He enjoyed working and helping others and was a best friend to many people.

Mr. Daugherty was married Feb. 23, 1957, to Beverly Curll, who survives.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Daugherty was preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Gunning Seybert; a brother, Harry Daugherty; three brothers-in-law, John Gunning, Leland Seybert and Leonard Chikosky; and a nephew, Jerry Gunning.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory, Clarion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Keith Richardson, pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Millcreek Presbyterian Cemetery, Fisher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarion Hospital Foundation Cancer Center, 1 Hospital Drive, Clarion, 16214.
