Sarah A. Maddy-Braden was born in Claiborne Co. TN about 1820 and was the daughter of Mann Henry Maddy and Lucy Stinnett-Maddy. Sarah married James Braden b.02 Jan 1819 on 13 Oct 1838 in Claiborne Co. TN. James and Sarah migrated to Macoupin Co. Il in 1839 and were counted in the 1840 census in Macoupin Co. IL. They had the following Children: Lucy Ann b. 27 Oct 1839, Sarah Jane b. abt. 1843, Permelia b. 08 Nov 1844, John M. b. abt. 1847, William A. b. 14 Oct 1848, James b. abt 1851, Benjamin F. b. abt. 1854, George W. b. abt. 1858 and Thomas Isaac b. 1862. It is thought that Sarah died in 1862 after the birth of Thomas Isaac, the burial location is unknown but possibly Hollingsworth Cemetery. James then married Nancy Frances Walker-Cummings-Blunt on 14 May 1868 in Macoupin Co. IL. and migrated after 1871 to Taney County MO. where he homesteaded 160 acres of land.
