Francis Marion Rockwood was the son of Roderick R. (1803-) and Eliza (1805-) Rockwood.
During the Civil War Francis he enlisted as a Private with Company F, 8th Iowa Cavalry on 8 Jul 1863, from his home in Appanoose County, Iowa.
On 1 Jan 1862, he married Sarah Naomi Anderson (23 Nov 1845-6 Feb 1915) in Appanoose County. They had seven children.
He was discharged from his military service on 13 Aug 1865 at Macon, GA.
After the war, they lived in Elk County, KS where they were included in the 1880 census. By 1883, they had moved to Lewis Co., WA. They were in Cetralia, Lewis Co., WA in 1900 and Centralis, Lewis Co., WA in 1910.
Sarah Rockwood filed for a pension (#1000690) on 23 Jun 1913, after Francis Marion Rockwood's death on 14 Jan 1913.
A WA Death Certificate has not been located for Francis. Is that an omission or did he die elsewhere? A WA death certificate is on file for Sarah.
