LABRECQUE: Rene E., 77

LABRECQUE: Rene E., 77, of Lyndonville, Vt., died suddenly at his home early Monday morning, Oct. 11, 2004.

He was born Sept. 5, 1927, in St. Francois Xavier, Quebec, Canada, son of the late Alphonse and Angeline (Rivard) Labrecque. On July 1, 1954, he married Denise Lecours.

Rene worked for Canadian-Pacific Railroad in Canada and Lyndonville on the section crew for 20 years. He later worked as a machinist for Northeast Tool, Vermont American Corp., in Lyndonville, for another 20 years, retiring in 1991.

Rene was an antique car enthusiast. He enjoyed buying and selling antique cars, car parts, as well as antique gas pumps and signs.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Denise (Lecours) Labrecque of Lyndonville; their son, Richard R. Labrecque and his wife Robin of Springfield, Vt.; six grandchildren, Justin, Danielle, James, Travis, Kyle and Nikki; five brothers and their wives, Leo and Gisele Labrecque of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Renaud and Jeannine Labrecque of Richmond, Quebec, Andre and Clarisse Labrecque of Sherbrooke, Jean and Nora Labrecque of Sherbrooke, and Bertrand and Edna Labrecque of Sherbrooke; five sisters, Helena Tardif of Sherbrooke, Terese Duranleau of Nantucket, Mass., Jeannine Lemoine of Longueil, Quebec, Jeanne Harvey and her husband Idola of Prince Edward Island, and Estelle Larue and her husband Andre of Sherbrooke; two brothers-in-law, Claude Lecours and his wife Rejeanne of Sherbrooke, and Gilles Lecours and his wife Denise of Sherbrooke; a sister-in-law, Suzanne Bouchard and her husband Claude of Sherbrooke; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Nicole Labrecque in 1992; and a sister, Simone St. Germain.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Lyndonville with the Rev. Stephen Nichols celebrant. Burial in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Lyndonville will be at a later date.
