MRS. ETTA MONCRIEF DIES HERE SATURDAY
Mary Etta Moncrief, wife of Doc Moncrief, passed away Saturday, Oct. 5, 1940 at her home in east La Plata after a long illness.
She suffered a stroke of paralysis in March from which she never fully recovered, her death was caused by a second stroke three weeks ago last Thursday.
Mary Etta Terrell, daughter of J.J. and Anna Terrell, was born in Macon County, July 8, 1871.
She was united with the Methodist church in childhood and until her last illness was an active and faithful member of the church, the Sunday school and the Ladies Aid.
She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Doc Moncrief; three children, Mrs. Robert Copenhaver of Macon, Missouri, Harry Wallace Brown of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Mrs. Anna Jones of Excelsior Springs, Missouri; and eight grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. J.M. McCarty of La Plata, Missouri, and Mrs. Fannie Griffin of Spokane, Washington; two brothers, Jeff Terrell of Wenatchee, Washington, and John Terrell of St. Joseph, Missouri; and a host of friends and relatives.
Funeral services were conducted at the La Plata Methodist Church Monday, Oct. 7. Burial was in the La Plata Cemetery.
