~~~My Paternal grandmother, I never knew her unfortunately~~~
This was my paternal grandmother. I never had the honor of meeting her, but heard all about her from my beloved father and her son.According to my dad she lived a hard life. She was unfortunately married to an alcoholic (Noble Veech) who did not always make for a happy home. My dad told me he was a verbally abusive man. I never heard my father say he disliked many people, but sadly his father was on the list. He even chose to have her buried in a separate grave, although she was entitled to be buried with him at Calverton National Cemetery.My mother told me she had the most beautiful voice.She was blessed with two good sons, Robert Veech and my dad Edward. My parents were engaged and that is where they were going to live since Florence was dying from stomach cancer. She did not live to see Edwards wedding day, and my maternal Grand-Father went to the Church to see if the wedding should be postponed out of respect. The priest told my grandfather, no, life goes on. They did cancel the band. My father was very close to her. In fact shortly before he died he told me"All" the really important people in his life were women, his mother, my mother and me.What a wonderful group to be part of. At the time of her death she was survived by two sons, Robert(Mary Canberg) and Edward,(Kathleen O'Brien) and three grandchildren Barbara, Robert Jr. and Mary Jean. She was also survived by her dear sisters only one whose name I recall, Margaret or "Aunt Retta" as she was called.As I get more information I will add it on.
Again a great big Thank You to Michael Harrington for sponsoring my Grandma and Grandpa Veech's memorials.You are a blessed man.Thank You ever so much.
