He was born in Miami, Ariz., and came to Michigan in 1929 and to Bellevue in 1947. He served in the U. S. Army from 1936 to 1939. In 1970, he retired from the Post Division of General Foods Corp., Battle Creek where he worked 26 years.
Upon retirement, he and his wife operated the Bait Box in Bellevue. He was a member of the Post 25-Year Club.
Surviving are his wife, the former Madelyn M. Harrison; daughters, Mrs. Steve (Susan) Hart of Colon, Mrs. Russ (Valerie) Epler of Bellevue and Mrs. Bruce (Diane) Masters and Mrs. Thomas (Jennifer) Sadler both of Charlotte; a son, Peter J. Gjukis, Jr, of Bellevue, and four grandchildren.
Services were held at 1:30 p.m. January 30 at First Baptist Church. Officiating minister was Rev. Ellis E. Tolly and pallbearers
were Steve Smith, James Gjukis, Charles Harrison, Kevin Epler, Jack Kiplinger, and Andrew Harrison. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue. Arrangements were by Lehman Shaw Funeral Home.
