BERWICK - James Herman Adwell, 78, Stevenson, Ala., fo rmerly of Berwick, died Thursday (Sept. 16, 2004) in Jackson County Hospital, Scottsboro, Ala.
He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Cave City, Ky., the son of Harry and Lucille Isenberg Adwell.
He married Donnalee Meachum on June 1, 1947, in Berwick.
Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Myra Kay (and Herb) Lloyd, Bremmen,Ala.; a son, Gale (and Joyce) Adwell, Galesburg; a sister, Shirley Ford,Galesburg; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was
preceded in death by his parents and two infant brothers.
He graduated from Abingdon High School in 1944.
He worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Galesburg and was a custodian and bus driver for Abingdon School District 217.
He moved to Stevenson in 1971 and drove a truck at Fabius Coal Mine. He later worked and retired from H.D. Lee Overall Factory in Stevenson.
He was Boy Scout leader for 18 years and was a member of Edgefield Church of Christ in Stevenson.
Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Berwick Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel Siems officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel.
Memorials may be made to his church.
