S/Sgt. Carl F. Abbott was a member of C Company, 194th Tank Battalion. He served in the Philippine Islands during the opening months of American involvment in World War II. He became a Prisoner of War when Bataan was surrendered to the Japanese and was held at Camp O'Donnell and Cabanatuan POW Camps. He died of malaria while a POW. Since his remains could not be identified after the war, his name appears on the Tablets of the Missing at the American Military Cemetery at Manila. He is most likely buried at the cemetery as an Unknown.
