In Loving Memory of Augusto Enrique Benavides
Augusto was born in Arequipa, Peru, near the volcano Misti. Arequipa remained his first and most loved home. He came to the United States to receive his advanced degree in Chemical Engineering, but decided to stay in the US and was joined by his wife, Olga and son Augusto. He worked in plastics and solvents, particularly glues, and he is named on several important patents. He also was head of the Chemical Lab at Whittier College and was an instructor of introductory chemistry classes. He received commendation from the College for his work with students. He is remembered with love and admiration by his children, Augusto Benavides, Diana Bien, Rose Benavides, his daughter-in-law Lisa Benavides and his son-in-law Gregg Bien. The joys of his life were his eight grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Annalise, Celina, David, Alyssa, Natalie and Marina. He will be always remembered for the genuine and deep love he had for his family, his sweet and wise nature, his sense of humor and his love for music and books. He was relentlessly optimistic, saw the true joy in the smallest of moments and gave each member of his family true and lasting love. Our beloved Papa will always be in our hearts telling us stories, rooting us forward, and always believing in us.
Memorial: 10 a.m. July 27 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
The above Memorial Card with Photo was provided by Gus and Olga Benavides' beloved children at the Memorial Service. Gus and Olga moved to Clovis from the San Fernando Valley in late fall 2000. They became dear friends and wonderful neighbors. They were devoted to their children and grandchildren, and to each other. It was a true pleasure to see them in and around the neighborhood on their daily walks and tending their lovely home. We were blessed to know them and they will forever be in our memories.

Missing you and Olga so very much. It was such a privilege to know you both. You are still a part of the neighborhood in our hearts and thoughts, but it's a lesser place without you here.|
