Roy was a son of Miles H. Carrier and Ida L. McKinley Carrier of Summerville, Jefferson County, PA. His family was a prominent and respected one in his home county. He and his wife, Mildred Michael, had no natural children of their own but during the Depression adopted the very young orphan son of one of Mildred's brothers. Roy was a loving father, a devoted husband and to the extent his health made possible, a doting grandfather. Roy was a soldier in WWI and served in France. He is remembered by his grandchildren and his memory is honored.

I'm thinking of you, Grandpa, this Memorial Day and want you to know that your family is aware of the horrors you experienced during WWI and we appreciate what you did for us and our country. We are proud of you and have not forgotten you.|
