James William Arnold was born on April 23, 1941, and he was the son of Goffrey Vail Arnold (1890-1972) and his wife Mildred Juanita (Beasley) Arnold (1908-1995).

A graduate of Franklin High School and Middle Tennessee State University, he was a teacher, basketball & track coach at DuPont, Wright, Pearl-Cohn and Joelton Schools. He also worked with Davidson County Sheriff's Office in the Inmate Skills Program and volunteered delivering food to the hungry for 28 years. He loved to share his passion for white birds, pigeons and rabbits and was also a member of Owen Hill Masonic Lodge 172 F&AM and was a member of the Church of Christ.

James was married about 1979 to Joy Phelan.

A resident of Cane Ridge, Tennessee, he was 75 years old when he passed away on November 2, 2016.

Preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Juanita (Arnold) Murrey, he was survived by his wife; five children;many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two brothers.

Funeral Services were held at Woodbine Funeral Home's Hickory Chapel, and burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery.
