Betty M. Battig, age 92, of Delta, peacefully passed away with her family by her side at Swanton Health Care Center, Sunday afternoon July 12, 2015. She was born in Delta on February 14, 1923 to the late George Lambert and Beulah (Cass) Lambert. On February 26, 1942 she married Carl Battig and he preceded her in death in 1995. Betty was a homemaker and loving wife and mother. When she was not caring for her nine children, she enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Betty was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Delta, American Legion Auxiliary and tried to always lend a helping hand volunteering with the Hands of Grace. She is survived by her children, Robert (Judy) Battig, Connie (Max) Johnston, Shirley (Gene) Bowerman, Rita Nijakowski, Carl (Patti) Battig, Phyllis, Christine Bartrum, Virginia (Dan) Battig and Charlotte Murry; sister, Juanita Hoffman; brothers, Raymond (Pauline), Kenneth (Shirley), Ted (Billie Jo) and Hal (Cynthia) Lambert; sister-in-law, Ester Battig; 19 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Beverly Battig; sister, Imogene Lambert and Robert Lambert. Interment was at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta on Thursday, July 16, 2015.
