Dan was my big brother, he was killed in a car accident on his way from New York, where he was living to California to visit family. He left behind 4 children, and was buried next to his infant daughter, Candiss Jones, who died of SIDS. His girlfriend Lorraine was killed in the accident with him.
Dan was a generous man. If someone he knew needed help, he was always willing to lend a hand. He was good with his hands, although he often would start a project, and somehow never get it finished. Although he did get Mom & Dad's roof and repiping finished the spring of 2000.
Dan always seemed to end up doing things the hard way, and life did not come easy to him. But his family was important to him. Dan was always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He was good with wood working and carpentry. He took great pride in always trying to do things the "right way", not always the easy way. Not all of his projects ended up getting completed, but what he did do, he worked hard to do it the right way first.
He would say to people, "I was born a fool, what's your excuse?" April Fool's day was his day to shine. He loved to pull pranks on those around him. Only once I got him! On his 40th birthday I gave him a Happy 50th Birthday card, he looked so puzzled, I told him turn it over and the back I printed April Fool's! He never made it to his 50th birthday so that was the only 50th birthday card he ever received.
