Birth: Sep. 30, 1856
Maine, USA
Death: Nov. 30, 1897
Salt Lake City
Salt Lake County
Utah, USA

From an article in the "Salt Lake Herald," Dec. 1, 1897: George A. Clark was killed in an accident while loading his hunting shotgun into his carriage and the gun shot him in the face and caused instantaneous death. It was also noted that he had nearly $20,000 Life and Accidental Death insurance. This would be worth over $500,000 in today's dollars. He was the owner/manager of a horse stables in Salt Lake City at the time. This would at least partially explain the incredible monument on his grave (and note that he little, tiny monument to the side of his is his father-in-law, Orrin Fenton Buttles, a highly regarded Civil War veteran.
