Claude Alwood was born March 12, 1931, in Farmer City, the son of John "Sawdust" and Frances Bateson Alwood. He married Lela Lois Lane on Sept. 5, 1950, in Clinton. She passed away Aug. 18, 2001.
Surviving are his son, Kevin (Sara) Alwood; daughter, Lois Woolum; grandchildren, Danelle (Billy) Binkley, Tina (Paul) Tombaugh, Brian Woolum, Tania Durbin, Rachael Alwood; great-grandchildren, Alyxandriah Claudine, Jaymze, Sean, Deztiny, Breanna, Trey, Abigayle, Dominic, Emmaly, Kaela, Sydney; brother, Charles (Doris) Alwood; sisters, Dorothy (Art) Sutton; Jessie (Irvin) Monkman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Joe, John and William; and sister, Bertha.
He was a retired laborer and member of Union Hall 159 in Decatur. He was a former employee of Otto Baum Construction, Clyde Dial Construction, P.R. Duke Construction and Gail Frinfrock Excavating.
