David Baillie, northwest of Traer, who was stricken with apoplexy a few weeks ago, died yesterday morning,. There was little ground for hope from the first, and the last two or three weeks he has been failing rapidly. Mr. B. was a man of remarkable physical power. He had never been sick up to two months ago. He was born in the county of Forfar, Scotland, October 7, 1841. He was married in Scotland to Miss Jane Brown thirty-seven years ago and came to America twenty years ago, locating near Traer. Eleven children were born to the couple, three of whom have passed away. All living were with him since his illness began. Mr. B. was a very industrious and frugal man and was doing good work on the farm for himself and family. He had purchased land in Canada and purposed moving there in the spring. The funeral will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 12 o'clock, at the home, conducted by Rev. Lackey. Burial will be in the Amity Cemetery. (bio by: Linda Allison Harlow)
