Samuel was my 3rd Great-Grandfather.
The stone reads:
In memory of/Samuel Caple/who departed this life/September 22nd 1846/in the 95th year of/his age.
There are six stones in this family cemetery located at 1824 Deer Park Road. The stones are located between the barn and Deer Park Road, near a clump of trees. The burials were all between 1836-1861.
Samuel took the Oath of Fidelity and Support on 26 Mar 1778 and served in the Revolutionary War in the company of Capt. Stephen Gill, Regiment of Col, Gist, Seclect Militia of Baltimore, Upper Gunpowder Battalion. On 3 Apr 1845 he applied to the US Pension Office in Washington, DC, but his pension was denied because the paper work was not kept up. He was 92 years old and even with many witnesses and evidence he never lived to collect any benifits. Samuel lived and died within 20 miles of his birth place.
