Ransom Scott Respess (called Scott) was the youngest child and son of Marcus Lafayette "Tobe" Respess (1843-1916) and Margaret Robertson "Dena" Respess (1862-1917). He married Grace Rich Respess in 1923 and fathered three children, Scott Laverne Respess (1924-1998), Ruby Respess Sharp (1926-1999), and Ralph Gillespie Respess (1928-1995). He helped build the levee on the Mississippi River that followed the Flood of 1927. After that he worked for Desoto County as a gravel truck driver. At retirement, he helped care for his wife who was invalided by diabetes which resulted in her blindness. He passed away from a heart attack at the age of 69 years.
