Thomas is the son of John and Mary Rush Crow. He was born in Pennsylvania and moved with his parents as a child to Berkeley County, Virginia. In 1770, at the age of 21, he married Susannah Britton. They had 11 children. By the end of 1805 at the age of 56, he moved with his younger children to Ross County, (later Pickaway County) Ohio where he resided until his death. Shortly after Susannah died in Sept. 1809 he he married Elizabeth Conely/Connely.
