" On Monday evening, 4th inst. at his residence No 19 Bond Street, NY Looe Baker, Esq., aged 74 years.
The deceased was among the earliest pioneers of the southwest. He was a successful merchant at Natchez prior to the cession of Louisiana to the United Sates. In the year 1813 he removed to Elizabeth town and was President of the State Bank in this town for over twenty years, and thence he removed to the City of New York in which place he has resided for many years past.

The deceased was of English origin and his family has been frequently and most honourably connected with the naval history of England for the space of 150 years. His long life has been over marked by the most strict and undeviating integrity of character."

Looe was married twice: second marriage was to Sarah Sabina Morris and no children. 7 children by first marriage to Eliza Wardell.
