During World War I, he enlisted August 1, 1918, at Columbus, Ohio in 36 Company, 9 Battalion, Syracuse Recruit Company to August 31, 1918; 319 Guard & Fire Company, Quartermaster Corps to Discharge. Promoted to Private, first class on September 4, 1918. Honorable discharge December 10, 1918. Archie was a sheet metal worker.He had gray eyes and brown hair. First married at Cincinnati, July 30, 1918, Beatrice Sylvia, daughter of William A & Mary (Jones) Slaughter. Married secondly, at Columbus on February 14, 1923, Minnie Mildred Sells. Archie left one son by his first marriage and four by his second.
