Born the son of the late Dewey and Bessie Bramlett Smith. Later married Dorthy Bannister and had a son.
Charles was a U.S. Navy Veteran, and later in life retired from Greenwood Mills, Matthews Plant.
He was a member of West Side Baptist Church and a member of the Men's Sunday school class, where he was fondly known as the "Candy Man" because he always had candy to hand out to people.
He was a member of the Friendship Masonic Lodge #25 A.F.M. and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Survived by his wife of the home, a son Rev. Milton Smith and wife Teresa of York, SC. along with three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren
