Bronze front and back plates are currently missing. This grave was used by bootleggers who would sneak into the cemetery at night, unscrew one of the bronze plates, and stash their liquor inside the hollow marker. Later, the saloon keeper they did business with would retrieve the liquor and leave behind his payment for the bootlegger to pick up later.

Note: Uncertain if Find A Grave entry of “U. Pagdin” means Unknown Pagdin or if there is an initial somewhere on the marker. It is interesting that Annie Pagdin Milliken Donnelly later uses the middle initial of “U.”
