George was a retired chief petty officer in the Navy after serving 21 years.
He was preceded in death by one daughter and two grandsons.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Dow Bell; sons, George (Megan) Bell, III and Raymond Pumphrey; daughters, Kelly (Rick) Rewerts, Lori (Jeff) Montanez and Audra (Rick) Walsh and Frances (Charles) Manley; 22 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Hope Worship Center.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. at the Hope Worship Center, 136 Elizabeth St. in Ashland City.
Cheatham County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
