Devoted and loving husband, father, scholar, thinker, and friend. Graduated with degree in Metalurgical Engineering from Purdue University in 1955. Served in U.S. Army, and employee of several steelmaking operations including Inland and U.S. Steel. Disciple of W. Edwards Deming and philosophy of quality control. Avid billiards player, baseball fan (Cinncinati Reds) and statistical wonk. Staunch advocate for women's rights and for greater emphasis on "thinking". Upon retirement in 1997, devoted his time by joining Americorps and tutoring youth, visited sick and elderly in nursing homes, and leading church services. Also served as a part-time professor of mathematics at local colleges.

Met wife Vivienne in 1964 on blind date, and married in 1966. Two children, Mitchell and Karen (Walker). Enjoyed time with grandchildern, Sam, Bobby (Walker) and Sarah (Walker). Succomed to colon cancer after long illness.
