LAUREL, Miss. - Funeral services were held in the Memory chapel for the Rev. Andrew Allison of Ellisville who died at 81 in a Jackson hospital. Burial was in the Laurel cemetery.
The Rev. Mr. Allison was a native of New Orleans and received a BS degree from Tulane university in 1898, and an MA degree in 1900.
He taught throughout Louisiana and Mississippi from 1901 until 1910, when he accepted a post as lay missionary to China where he served until 1935.
He was ordained by the Meridian Presbytery, Synod of Mississippi, Presbyterian Church in the United States in 1935. He then returned as a foreign missionary to China until his retirement in 1948.
In addition to his widow, Mrs. Ella Ward Allison, Rev. Allison is survived by one son, Dr. Lex Allison of Ann Arbor, Mich., a daughter, Mrs. C. A. Sheldon, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and two brothers, Alexander Allison of New Orleans, and William Allison, of Meridian.
