Michael Chufe Jr., 64, of New Brighton, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Heritage Valley, Beaver, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 24, 1947, in New Brighton, a son of the late Michael Sr. and Lena (Pasquale) Chufe, he was formerly employed by J & L, LTV and J & L Structural Steel Companies for 37 years. Currently he was employed by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, stationed at Warrendale Interchange. He was a former member of the U.S.W.A., Local 1211 and currently a member of the Teamsters Local 250. Michael was an original commissioner for the New Brighton Girls Softball Association and was a member of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church of New Brighton.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda (August) Chufe; two daughters and one son-in-law, Megan Chufe, New Brighton and Michelle and Korey Leslie, Harrisburg; one brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Ann Chufe, New Brighton; one sister, Antoinette (Chufe) Cardosi, Norristown, several nieces, nephews, their families and his granddogs, Murphy and Sammy.

Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. in the J&J SPRATT FUNERAL HOME, New Brighton, where prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Fr. Tom Kredel, officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, New Brighton.
