Eugene “Gene” Badgett age 87 of Knoxville. Heaven’s gate opened and welcomed him on September 24, 2018. Mr. Badgett served 23 years and retired from the United States Air Force, serving in both the Korean Conflict and Viet Nam. Retired from East Tennessee Gas Company. He was a member of the Knoxville Masonic Lodge for many years. Mr. Badgett attended Gillespie Ave. Baptist Church. He enjoyed Thursday Night dinners with the Knoxville Senior Citizens Dinner Club. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Lois Lorine Badgett parents, brother and 3 sisters. He has left his 3 adult children to mourn his passing, son Thomas “Gene” Badgett, daughters and sons-in-law Deborah and Russell Sanders and Melody and John Monholland, granddaughters Heather Allen and husband Artie, Corrin Reynolds, grandsons Nicholas Monholland, Joseph Davis, 5 great grandchildren Grayson and Charlotte Allen, Xavier Monholland, Deacon and Devon Brogdon and special friend Kathy Gilliam. Family and friends will meet 10:45 am Saturday at Greenwood Cemetery for a 11 am graveside service, Pastor Chris Garner officiating. Full military honors will be provided by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Family will receive friends 5 to 7 Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. www.mynattfh.com
