Birth: 1620
Death: Jun. 30, 1666

Born and raised in Dorset, Alexander arrived in London circa 1640 to train as a lawyer. His sduccess led to him entering Grays Inn in 1648 and Lincoln's Inn the following year.

About 1650 Brome married Martha Whitaker and they had several children, as well as three children from Martha's earlier marriage. They settled in the City of London. Already a successful lawyer, Brome also found recognition as a Cavalier Poet. In 1654 he completed his only play, The Cunning Lovers. A later collection of his poetry contained an endorsement from Izaak Walton, and Brome himself provided a commendation for the first folio of Beaumont and Fletcher's works, and to the second edition of Walton's Compleat Angler. He died a wealthy man, leaving many bequests to his wife and family.
