Paula is survived by her children, Phillip Miner and his wife Jennifer (Angus) Miner; her daughter Julie (Miner) Massey and her husband Chad Massey; her five grandchildren: Tara Miner, Hannah Miner, Caroline Massey, Harrison Miner, and Ethan Massey; her brothers: Ronald Haygood and wife Phyllis, & Robert Haygood and wife Barbara.
She is preceded in death and rejoined in Heaven by her Husband of 49 years, Ronald David Miner, (June 8, 1939 - February 5, 2013) and daughter Tara Suzanne Miner (July 6, 1967 - July 8, 1967).
Paula was born on September 20, 1943, the daughter of Paul L. Haygood (abt 1899 – May 12, 1943) and Ina (White) Haygood (1913-1986). Paula graduated from Meridian High School in 1961. Subsequently she graduated from Mississippi State College for Women in 1964 with a degree in elementary education.
Paula met her husband, Ronald Miner, in Meridian, MS while he was going through USMC flight training. They married on July 7, 1963. Paula began teaching soon after they were married. She taught in several schools from 1965 – 1991 as she joined her husband Ron, a US Marine & American Airlines' pilot, throughout the United States.
Paula Miner loved and served the Lord, her family, and school children with all of her heart. She gave generously of herself to several Christ-based ministries around the world, including the local church, Young Life, Campus Crusade for Christ, Life Promotions and Trinity Christian Academy (Addison, TX). We were all truly blessed by her life here on earth. She will be dearly missed.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Home Instead Senior Care (Mishawaka, IN) and their wonderful caregivers for blessing Paula with their friendship and service.
Memorial services will be held in Meridian, Mississippi (Gumlog Cemetery) and Plano, Texas (Prestonwood Baptist church).
Friends may gather with the family for a visitation from 11am – 1pm on Monday, April 7, 2014 at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home, 6300 Hwy 39 N, Meridian, MS 39305. Graveside services will take place at Gumlog Cemetery immediately after.
