Lloyd Mathis of Leavenworth, a former businessman there and in Parsons was found dead at his rural Leavenworth home on Sunday.
Services for Mathis, 82 years old, will be held at 6:30 pm today in Leavenworth and burial will be at 11 am Wednesday in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Parsons.
Mathis was born on Feb. 17, 1897 in Parsons, a son of William and Nellie Mathis. He operated a hatchery and hardware business here for 37 years before going to Leavenworth in 1957. He purchased a hardware store there and operated it until he retired in 1967.
After retirement, he purchased and restored antique cars.
Mrs. Mathis, the former Cecile C. Wellborn, died in 1962. Two sons survive, Dr. Jerry Mathis of Salina and Jack M. Mathis of Kansas City, Kans.
Mathis was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Leavenworth, where the services today will be held, the Kiwanis club there and the of the Cody Choraliers. He was a past member of Kiwanis in Parsons and Leavenworth.
The Davis Funeral Chapel of Leavenworth is in charge of arrangements.
