Hazel Ancell Beck immigrated to the United States with her parents in 1911. She married Paris "Pete" O'Neal Beck in Detroit in 1928. She lived in Champagne, Ill., until 1939, when she, her husband and their three sons moved to the Glendale area of Southern California. There her husband opened the P.O. Beck Furniture Company.
She helped to build Lockheed Constellation aircraft during World War II. After her husband died in 1955, she lived in Yokohama, Japan, where she taught English to Japanese students. She traveled extensively throughout the British Isles and Europe and, after leaving Southern California, lived in Sacramento, Modesto, and finally Merced.
She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1942, and, while living in the Glendale area, worked for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.
She is survived by her sister, Alma Zech of Modesto; sons, Donald and William Beck of Don Pedro and Alan of Sacramento; daughters-in-law, Jewell, Sandy and Gail; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
